Covert Literary Magazine is a publication by Writing Our Legacy showcasing global majority/BPOC creatives based in or with a connection to the South East England, established in 2020.  For our third issue of Covert, we were delighted to welcome Guest Editor environmental writer Jessica J. Lee and a Guest Editorial Team consisting of marine biologist and journalist Jasmine Qureshi.

Contributions explored the South Downs and its nature, landscape, heritage, across Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne and beyond to Hampshire, Kent and Sussex. Our issue invites writers and artists to connect with nature, people and heritage and learn about our connected projects, which aim to restore lost landscapes and habitats, bring history to life and offer new experiences in the outdoors.

This issue is part of our Shifting the Gaze project, funded by South Downs National Park Authority, and the Changing Chalk project, led by the National Trust and funded by the National Lottery funded Heritage Fund. It is also supported by Arts Council England’s National Lottery funded Project Grant.
