Chilltans are shape-shifters, fluid sacred spirits that have essentially been present in spiritual traditions in Central Asia. In this publication by DAVRA Collective, research on Chilltans is presented through academic texts, prose, poetry, photographs, illustrations and collages. The publication accompanied a series of public events by the collective that took place during the documenta fifteen exhibition in Kassel in 2022. All these events together created a ritual of self-discovery, exchange of knowledge and communal healing through memory.
DAVRA is a collective of 19 artists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
